Opening: The Jewelry Box

After 22 years in Noe Valley, Yvette Chamberland closed Rose Quartz jewelry in September and moved to Oakland. Reason? "The landlord wouldn't renew my lease, so I was forced to relocate." Presumably the landlord was raising the rent because they don't seem to object to jewelry stores.

Enter The Jewelry Box. 3904 24th St (between Noe St & Sanchez St). Open now, and (natch) having a sale.

Can't confirm what the deal was with the landlord, but we're very happy it's a jewelry store and not yet another storefront with a "Nails/Waxing" neon sign.

The landlords don't object to jewelry stores --they decided to open one! The guys at St Clair liquors (who are the landlords) didn't renew the lease for Rose Quartz because they wanted to take over the business. As you can see, they are trying to replace Rose Quartz and profit from the 22 years that rose quartz existed in that space!

Wake up Noe Valleyans!

Know who you are dealing with. This is what unscrupulous and greedy landlords do. They throw out a viable and long-standing business and open a similar business. Good luck with that!

Rose Quartz was a great little jewelry shop -- inviting staff, interesting selection, affordable prices. I was very sad when I learned that they were leaving.
I don't generally relish in the failure of new businesses, but I think it's hilarious that the "Jewelry Box" is bombing so miserably.
I have not been inside the "new" store, but whenever I walk by, I see an scowling man behind the counter. Who on earth would put a man -- and a scowling man at that -- behind the counter of a jewelry boutique? That is counterintuitive, to say the least.
Also uninviting is the prominently placed security camera screen. Hello? Don't put it where everyone can see it. And by the way, you don't need a security camera when there are zero people in your store.
