Opening: City Grill

City Grill's sign is up, and today the door was open and workers were inside. Open date? “Hopefully in 10 days...on Wednesday the 14th.” We presume the "hopefully" applies to their beer/wine license: still pending. The inside? Much the same as before and seems close to ready. So it seems Noe Valley is poised for another "classic American fare" restaurant.

And? Already four stars on Yelp.

What do you mean, "another" classic American fare restaurant? I mean, I guess Toast is, but that's pretty much just a breakfast place. What are the other classic American fare restaurants in Now Valley?

I'm looking forward to it.

P.S. I'm not counting Barney's.

Oops. Should have known that would be confusing. Our take is that "classic" is a loose term that means regular fare that Americans like. Classic American pizza is Haystack and Noe Valley pizza, classic brunch means Chloe's and Toast, classic comfort food means Firefly and Savor, and classic burger & fries means Barney's and 24th Street Cafe.

Of course since City Grill hasn't posted a menu, we don't know what they mean by classic. But we're looking forward to trying it, too.
