Urban Cellars: Closed By ABC

As the sign in the window hints, Urban Cellar's license has been suspended for 5 days for "Operating Condition Violations" and "Exceeding license privileges". We've tried to contact the manager but haven't heard back, so we're left to guess that they likely got busted for offering tastings. Most other violations carry stiffer penalties. Anyone know more?

That sign has been up since last weekend at the very least. I think the 5-day suspension (04058367) is probably an older suspension (hence "Disciplinary History") and not the current one (09071725).

Thanks, Nick. Did a bit more digging and found that the suspension is for "sale to a minor (decoy)" brought by the SFPD. Oops. Found it using the current file number you reference. It's in this PDF if anyone wants to verify.

I guess the kids are back to asking their creepy uncles to get their liquor.

Hey, you were only supposed to read this sign if you are a costumer by profession.

That list of ABC actions is interesting. I'm more concerned about what kind of "lewd conduct" at "Pepes Mexican and American Restaurant" in Canyon Lake got them closed down. I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants, but I've never seen anything that I'd call "lewd."

That's too bad. I was under the impression that the closure was for the official change in ownership to the new owner. He told me a while back that when the official paperwork went through he'd have to close for a few days to change the name on the license. I hope this is the reason and not the one mentioned above.
