Rumored: A Gardening Store

"We just learned today that a new gardening store, with exotic plants as well as gardening classes and more will be opened soon on the patio behind When Modern Was." We'll believe it when we see it, but we're feeling optimistic. We were excited at the prospect of Urban Nest when it opened (promised: "garden accessories"), but they have nothing practical. It would be nice to pick up dirt, seedlings, and a pitchfork within walking distance. Look for it it out in the yard behind When Modern Was on Church St.

There used to be a gardening store on 24th street. It closed about 10 years or so ago. Can't remember the name, but I miss it.

Yes, there was a plant store here. Many more than ten years ago--more like thirty---but it was called "Ron Green Plant Works"

Exotic plants? Did they take a nap while the whole native plant and urban farming craze exploded?

There was stylish urban gardening + home/bath design place next to Echo Furniture that was charming and stylish. Not frou frou and a good addition to the neighborhood. The owner had to close up shop when the landlord raised the rent - and that was about 10 years ago.

Tuggey's sells pitchfork and dirt - no seedlings, but they'll even carry the bags of soil a few blocks for you if they've got an extra staff member around.
