Food Bites: Special Dinners, Wine For A Cause, And A Breakfast Treat

La Ciccia's popular four-course dinner of whole-roasted suckling pig and other Sardinian style treats is on again March 29th at 7:00PM. $80/person including wine, excluding tax and gratuity. Reservations by phone only: (415)550-8114. 291 30th St.

Incanto's 7th Annual Head-To-Tail Dinner has two dates this year: Monday, March 22, and Wednesday, March 24. The menu includes venison, pork liver, oxtail and beef lips, tripe and tongue and (of course) mincemeat for desert. Five courses, $75/person excluding wine, tax and gratuity. Noe Valley Ministry is hosting Noe Valley Uncorked -- a fund-raiser highlighting wines from Argentina. If you're not familiar with wines from the 5th largest producer of wines in the world this is a great opportunity to learn about Malbec and even less familiar grapes. April 30, 6:00-9:00PM. $35/person at the door. Over 20 wines and snacks. All proceeds benefit Noe Valley Ministry. 1021 Sanchez St.

Looking for a cheaper treat? Twin Peaks Pizza is now serving a Brazilian breakfast treat called salgados. Savory, with meat and cheese the primary ingredients. Monday through Saturday, 8:00AM-3:00PM. Prices start at $1.70. 1681 Church St.

Food Bites

A quick round-up of the latest Noe Valley food news:

Deep Sushi: No solid evidence (yet), but Eater is reporting that it's been sold. Possibly to people involved with Ozumo. At any rate, still closed.

Chocolate Covered: It doesn't come in a gold wrapper, and you can't win a trip to the factory, but you can track the progress of the cacao beans used in your $16 Chocolate bar. Your purchase will also pay for a new tree in the rain forest. Made locally, and only available at Chocolate Covered on 24th St or in the Financial District at Fog City News.

Bernie's is hosting girlbiz again this Saturday (Feb 7) from 9am-1pm.

1298 Church St: We checked in with Regent Thai about the "high end vietnamese" restaurant at Church and Jersey. A staffer said the owner has placed the project on hold, but we've been unable to get a hold of the owner. Anyone know more?

Contigo: Brett has recieved over 1000 applications for 16 positions so far. And? Still advertising.

Food Bites: What's New In Noe

A quick round-up of the latest Noe Valley food news:

Incanto is now offering a Leg of Beast dinner as a simpler version of Cosentino's popular Whole Beast events. Best for 6-8 people, the meal "is centered around a whole leg of beef." Reservations and pre-order required; $200.

La Ciccia is hosting another of its popular Cena di Porco dinners on January 26th featuring a whole roasted suckling pig and wine pairing. $75 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations by phone only - (415)550-8114.

Firefly celebrated its 15th anniversary in November. (We ate there the first month they were open and can't believe it's been 15 years!)

Contigo hired a General Manager and hopes to announce an opening date soon. Go Brett!

City Grill opened as expected on January 14th. The website isn't up yet (citygrillsf.com), and the menu is evolving. But for now they're offering steak, a pork chop, burger, and fish, chicken and veggie options. Now we know what "classic American fare" means to Stefano Coppola.

Cooks Boulevard has announced their new class schedule, and classes are filling up fast. Also be sure to check out the upcoming events at Omnivore Books.

It may be January, but the warm weather continues to bring crowds to the Farmer's Market. This week there was a new vendor selling organic vinegar, and there's talk of more vendors to come - possibly on a rotating basis. Spring is just around the corner...

Nothing new to report on the "Vietnamese Fusion" at 1298 Church St. except that there's nothing new to report. There's been no work on the space for a couple of months. Anyone have details?

Finally, Elizabeth Street Brewery. Yes... Noe Valley has a brew pub. They Tweeted this weekend that they're set to brew another 200 gallons of beer this year and hope to keep up with ever-increasing demand. Drink up!
