What a surprise that actual data shows what is already known by many, that parklets are only "wildly popular" with the businesses they help subsidize, and with the Bike mafia I mean the SF bicycle coalition who would like to eliminate all cars, hence, all parking spots in the City.
The LTTE says that their (clearly very scientific survey) says that 16 percent of people support the parklet. In San Francisco these days, that *is* wildly popular.
Looks like Rocky's Dad / noearch / futurist is back with more "bike mafia" BS. Give it a rest. Your rants are more based in reality when you're fighting for street trees.
Nope, that wasn't me (rocky's dad). Just got back this morning from a week-long road trip up to Lake Tahoe.
So, anon @ 8:49pm, just for the record, there ARE others, a lot in fact, who agree what others say about the SF Bike Coalition, or bike mafia. that's also my opinion.
So you should be careful what you say, unless you HAVE the facts.
Ah yes, another one of these 4th generation Noe Valleyans who don't work and just hop around to Lake Tahoe or wherever frittering away their parent's inheritances instead of maintaining the flophouses they rent out to people they complain about anytime they aren't cashing their rent check.
They think they know EVERYTHING....
Whoa. That last comment was unkind and uncalled for, in my opinion.
But the phrase "bike mafia" is taking the etiquette world by storm!
I think people get upset about the Bike Coalition because they break the laws of the road. You are supposed to stop at stop signs and use your hands as turning signals. I just yelled at a guy who rode thru a 4 way stop (Jersey at Noe) and had his young kid following him. I told him he was teaching his kid to break the law. I really think that if they were better drivers we would not have any issues. Thank God the SFPD is starting to ticket these people.
