A rumor first whispered in the comments seems to be coming true: this notice posted in the window of the now-vacated Tuggey's Hardware indicates that 1 Life Healthcare (aka One Medical) will take over the space. Permit #201205150522 at the DBI confirms that 3885 24th St will be built out as medical offices. One Medical currently operates at 3901 23rd St at Sanchez.
Probably great news for Dennis Giovannoli's retirement. Not so good news for the vibrancy of the 24th St retail/restaurant scene.
As a member of One Medical for the past 2 years, I'm excited to see them open another office in the neighborhood. While another restaurant would have been nice, it's great to see a service like this right on 24th.
ReplyDeleteGreat to have One Medical expanding in the neighborhood given the demand at sister practice Noe Valley Clinic! Can't wait to see how they transform the space.
ReplyDeleteI disagree. Why do they need to be on the 24th street retail strip? They are a destination, not a drop-in. They could set up shop anywhere. Pretty soon there won't be any retail on 24th street and no one will want to come here -- and worst of all, if this trend continues, we residents will have to go elsewhere to buy anything. Sad.
ReplyDeleteLove the fear mongering projected by the anon comment @ 9:20 am.
ReplyDeleteOh, the horrors! Soon 24th St. will be empty.
Nothing but tumbleweed blowing across the desolate parking lot where Whole Foods once was.
I'm so impressed that you can predict the future with such dire images.
ReplyDeleteSuper pumped about One Medical coming in. They are the sweetest, most efficient and most gorgeous doctor's office I've ever been to. Happy that a thriving business is opening on 24th st.
ReplyDeleteIn DC there was a doctor's office on a busy street corner and the restaurant scene did just fine. It's nice to have medical services in convenient areas where you can do something fun before or afterwards! A great addition to 24th if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteUgh. How boring.
ReplyDeleteTell us really how boring it is.
