News from, about and for Noe Valley from around the interwebs:
- March home sales were a mix of fixers and "family ready" $3M homes [Downing & Co]
- The trend continues in April [The Front Steps]
- 4033 26th St was a fixer, then sold for $2.6M three years ago; it just sold again for $3M with a 7-day close [Lance Fulford; also: as it was in 2008]
- Want to buy a house? Any house? Bring cash. All cash. [Inside SF RE]
- Don't want to buy? Put your money into mini golf like Noe Valley resident Steve Fox [Inside Scoop]
I am happy for the sellers, realtors, contractors, etc. but its not all good news. I have lived/owned in Noe 20 years. There are 4 buildings in my block that have recently sold and are now in the middle of major remodeling- at the same time. The noise, traffic, dust, constant blocking of everyone's driveways by workers, delivery trucks, inspectors, etc. is overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteThe building next to me has been under construction for 5 months and it is still gutted. There was a giant dumpster out front for two months that made it dangerous to get out of my garage as it blocked the view of traffic on my busy street. They jack hammered out the concrete floors, tore out all the lath & plaster, etc. My home is 4 inches away and from 1896 so no insulation in the walls to block the sound. The buyers are super nice but legally their contractor can start work at 7am for 6 days a week and often does. It's taking it's toll on our block.
Can you say which block?
ReplyDeleteI would stop complaining.
ReplyDeleteHow would you like to live in Detroit where vacant houses are all over the place, run down, vandalized and NO ONE wants to buy them.
I'm sure you would not want to live in one of those neighborhoods.
Construction doesn't last forever.
The first post is not complaining per say. This is a local blog (nothing to do with Detroit -although we all feel for them) where the other view beyond the articles is being commented. I agree these changes are not without an impact...
ReplyDeletehow would you like to live next to 1220 Church? Or on the North side of 23rd between Douglass and Hoffman, dealing with the rats being bred by your backdoor neighbors on Alvarado?
