As it began, so it ends - Tuttimelon will miss the summer season. For that matter, Tuttimelon in Noe Valley will miss every foreseeable summer season. We walked by today and they were loading refrigerators into small pickup trucks. They've had all sorts of issues, so we assumed a remodel. When asked? "We're shut down and clearing out."
Sorry, kids - no more Strawreo flavored Fro-Yo.
Let's face it. it's real simple. For a business to survive and make a profit, it must offer a product or service that customers will want and support.
ReplyDeletethis didn't happen.
Fits and starts the whole way...not surprised. Would just like to see a real good gelato (not ice cream) spot on 24th. Anyone?
ReplyDeleteLoved the yogurt so disappointed they closed
ReplyDeleteIt WAS a great gelato place. Then it started offering the yogurt and the gelato went downhill.
ReplyDeleteDear Bi-Right: Please open a branch creamery...or...Double Rainbow, come back for an encore...or even Bud's I.C. try Noe Valley one more time----rain or shine there was always a line.
ReplyDeleteThere was an actual eviction notice on the door this weekend, store mostly cleaned out. It's a shame; it seems like an ice cream place in Noe Valley should work.
ReplyDeleteyo Nelson: we still have IC at Subs Inc. Quite clearly, a store selling JUST ice cream has no ability to make it. Even less ability derives from selling just one kind of "ice cream" e.g Froyo, with only two flavors. Yikes, what a business plan. There has be other products. Kinda like that famous skit on SNL regarding the "Scotch Tape Shop"
ReplyDeleteHow can a gelato/fro yo place not thrive in Noe Valley? It seems to me that it had an identity problem. They sold chocolates, then they didn't, and they had cupcakes and cookies in the window. It did not scream "gelato!" or "fro yo!" to me. If a place doesn't have a cohesive identity, it drops out of people's brains too easily and they literally forget to go there. I think an ice cream, gelato, or fro yo place COULD be successful in Noe Valley, but it has to have a strong identity -- ie pick one type of frozen treat and own it.
ReplyDeleteHow does one find out if that space is still available for lease?
