Just spotted this evening - a new women's clothing store is moving into the old Cook's Boulevard space (
CB closed in March 2010). The windows are papered over with fashion magazine pages and a sign in the window says:
two birds boutique
Flying in mid-February
(we're getting our nest ready!)
Also on that stretch of Castro at 24th, the
pop-up boutique LOLA hung a more permanent shingle and appears to be staying awhile.
oh great! Another women's clothing boutique. We really needed another one of those.
ReplyDeleteSo.....what do "we" need???????
ReplyDeleteInstead of YET ANOTHER women's clothing boutique, how about... A great deli, a fresh fish market, a general store a la Cliff's, one of those places where you can make dinners a week in advance and freeze them, a Dutch pancake restaurant, one of those stores where a whole bunch of people can set up small stalls to sell their homemade wares, an old-fashined chemist like the one on Union Street, a pie shop, a craft/art store to replace the one that closed, a tea salon, a hat store, a restaurant that just sells lobster rolls, an allergist's office, a goldsmiths, a Body Shop, a hot dog place, a dog groomer, an Indian restaurant, a Jest Jewels, a decent Italian restaurant, a by-the-slice pizza place, a real British-style pub, a Middle Eastern restaurant, or -- drumroll -- a small local cinema.
ReplyDeleteHow about a Scotch Tape store?
ReplyDeleteWe need... a Monorail!
ReplyDeleteOr a Plaza!
Oh wait, that's so 2010...
I'm thinkin' a men's cuff link store.
ReplyDeleteI think we all need a Pocket Full of Sunshine!!!
ReplyDeleteI think Brook W needs some therapy dealing with his/her obsession in telling others what they want.
ReplyDeleteInstead of therapy, try a Pocket full of Sunshine!!
ReplyDeleteHey Brock W.,
ReplyDeleteWhy don't 'cha open one of the businesses you listed?
It's not another bank, title company, realtor or dentist so everyone should be happy....or at least feeling good that it is a mom/pop retailer...Now let's hope it gets support when it opens.
ReplyDeleteAnon 3:58 People will support it if it deserves being supported. What makes you think this is a "mom and pop" store?
ReplyDeleteSo excited!!!! Hopefully less cluttered and more fashionable than Ambiance and the other women's options on the street. Can't wait to check it out.
ReplyDeleteDear cowardly anonymous poster, I didn't tell others what they want, I gave a list of ideas and suggestions for what might be cool to see in Noe Valley, as a means of stimulating a useful conversation.
