Interestingly enough I was on the Lululemon site and in their careers section they have a listing for a Noe Valley store - maybe that's what is going in there? As a bona fide Noe Valley lady who loves her Lulu, I would be stoked as hell.Lululemon is a boutique retail chain that sells "technical athletic apparel for yoga, running, dancing, and most other sweaty pursuits." We can't vouch for the job post on the Lululemon site - but given there's a store on Union Street it's plausible one could open here too.
Update (6/24): Still a rumor (emphasis ours):
Thank you for your interest in lululemon athletica. As of now, nothing has been confirmed for a new location in San Francisco. However, if we do decide to open a new location in Noe Valley, it will definitely be posted on our website under 'store finder'.
I hope this information helps!
Kind regards,
Hannah
lululemon athletica
Wow, from right wing posters to yoga mats. Harry Aleo will be rolling in his grave!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this would compete with See Jane Run. Not that I wouldn't love LuluLemon there as well, but I wouldn't want Jane to have to leave.
ReplyDeleteUgh. The new Union Street?
ReplyDeleteenuf with stores for women and babies.
ReplyDeletehow bout a men's clothing store? just for men?
Do men shop?
ReplyDeleteGod, I hope not. This would definitely kill See Jane Run. We do not need two stores like this within a block of each other! Competition like this is NOT GOOD for the neighborhood...take it from a former 24th street store owner. I'd way rather see a small operation like See Jane Run here than a huge one like Lulumon.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering why you assume it's this location though? There are several vacancies in Noe Valley, and this one probably needs the most work. The old Cook's Boulevard location would be a much better layout for a store like this, and since they are a huge corporation they probably don't know that being just off 24th could be a bad thing...but then, it's not like one poor location would bring the company down either.
And no, men don't shop the way women do and a men's clothing shop doesn't work here. Many have tried the men's clothing thing and many have failed. Men just don't buy enough clothing to pay the rents here. Now, a gadget store could work...
Anon: "within a block?" you sure about that?
ReplyDeletei don't think 24th needs another women's activewear store, but hysterical misinformation is no solution.
Talk about a sexist, stupid comment: "men don't shop the way women do"..what a bunch of bullshit.
ReplyDeletemany men, straight or gay are just as fashion conscious as women, in fact some more so.
How many more overweight women do I have to see on 24th St. in sweatpants and hoodie? yuck. or women who have show the butt crack every time they bend down to feed the baby in the stroller.
Men never do that.
"Ugh, the new Union Street" - um, Union Street has waaay better stores and restaurants than 24th Street has. Just sayin'...
ReplyDeleteMy beef with Union St. has to do more w/the crowd & less with the stores themselves. Noe could use some legit stores b/c in order to buy anything you actually need you basically have to leave the neighborhood. Even our Whole Foods is small!
I am so glad we have @anonymous 7:18PM here to police this board for "sexist and stupid" comments.
ReplyDeleteNothing sexist, stupid, stereotypical or offensive with what he/she has to say.
ah.........yea, it was pretty sexist and stupid what the poster said.
ReplyDeleteswitch the words women and men around and see how it sounds.
not so good huh?
Seriously, you want the Union Street stores here? The Union crowd and Union stores go together hand in hand. If that's the way Noe Valley wants to go, count me out.
ReplyDelete"If that's the way Noe Valley wants to go, count me out."
ReplyDeleteWhile you were sleeping - that already happened.
Alright alright, I'm sorry if I offended anyone but I did not mean to sound sexist in any way. Perhaps I should have said "NOE VALLEY men don't shop the way NOE VALLEY women do. That, my friends, is a fact, and unless you've owned a store in Noe Valley and have had the opportunity to work with the people who shop here, you can't argue with it.
ReplyDeleteI would be sad to see See Jane Run go too, but honestly, I don't shop there, and I do shop at Lululemon. Unfortunately the brands that See Jane Run stocks just aren't as cute & durable, nor do they come out with new styles all the time.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, if how much money I spend on athletic wear, and the amount of joggers and bootcampers in Noe are any indication, the Valley can more than support two athletic clothing stores - especially one that sells clothes for men AND women.
You are still sexist.
ReplyDeleteI live in Noe Valley, I am a man and I don't shop in Noe Valley like the Noe Valley women do because there is no place TO shop. That said, I would LOVE the opportunity to shop in here and would move my monthly Lululemon trips to NV instead of Burlingame or Union Square if they opened a local boutique.
