Best Pizza Delivery In Noe Valley?

Reader Sharon wants to know:
Who are people calling for delivery pizza? For years and years we called Noe Valley Pizza for thin crust and friendly delivery.

Now we're lost. We hate Haystack's soggy crust. I've read YELP reviews for an hour and I still don't have a place to call.

HELP! In this busy holiday season an occasional delivered pizza would be great.
Our choice? Pick it up from La Ciccia or Delfina. But sometimes you just need delivery. Anyone?

  1. We need a good pizza place. I miss the pizza from Noe Valley Pizza/Restaurant. Twin Peaks is ok taste-wise but I've had one too many nights of their two-hour delivery times.

Marcello's is decent and fast. They're in the castro but they deliver to 24th st area, at least.

Anyone tried Nizario's? Also in the castro, so it might not work for everyone in Noe.

  2. I order from Mozarella di Bufala in West Portal. They deliver within about an hour and I think the pizza is pretty good. (If I'm willing to pick up, I'll venture out to Pizzaria Delfina or Little Star.)

  3. I like Marcello's. They have decent salads, too.

  4. Haystack, right on 24th.

  5. I order delivery with Mozarella di Bufala / West Portal as well. Sometimes I slum it with Roundtable, when I want a greasy mess.

  6. OUR CHOICE FOR YEARS NOW IS TWIN PEAKS PIZZA ON CHURCH AT 29TH STREET----ASK FOR THIN CRUST AND EXTRA CHEESE---YUM!

  7. Escape from New York on 22nd & bartlett delivers whole pies. I know its usually a late night slice place, but their pizza is actually really good.

  8. That's easy! Serrano's Pizza on 21st between Valencia and Mission. Seriously tasty pizza! (http://www.serranospizza.com/)

  9. Nizarios is awful. Escape from NY, 18th and Castro. Hot, fresh pies made to order, usually in about 45 minutes.

  10. Pizzeria on Valencia bw 16th/17th. Fantastic pizza, fast delivery, good salads, nice guys running the place. We haven't ordered from anywhere else since we discovered them. http://www.pizzeriasf.com

  11. This is absolute sacrilege, but Round Table makes the best delivery even though it's a chain. I've tried most the others mentioned and it comes out ahead. Serrano's is a strong second.

  12. Pi Bar on Valencia between 25th and 26th doesn't deliver but makes wonderful pizza.

@NoeFarmReport Pizzeria? Really? That place is no bueno. I do not think I've ever seen a soul in there.

Nizarios, Serranos, Escape from NY and Roundtable are awful as well. I'll acknowedge our inherent laziness as a culture but with such magnificent pizza so close, it astonishes me how people continue to eat such poor quality food.

  13. Serrano's makes decent pizzas with relatively fast delivery, but they're definitely the huge thick crust kind.

Both Pi Bar and Basso's (on 24th) make nice thin crust pies. Basso's are personal size (maybe feeds 2, but not very big). Not sure if they deliver, but at least it's in the hood if you need to walk.

  14. We love Twin Peaks Pizza on Church street. They have thin crust which is always a plus for us.
Also, they'll store your past orders in their system, so in case you don't remember what you ordered last time, they can pull it up in minutes. Their delivery time is I think pretty good, we never had to wait more than 30 min.

  15. @Demetrius it's true that the place is always empty. We've actually talked to the owner about how to make it appeal to the mission crowd. However, the discussion here I believe is about good delivery, so if you haven't tried it I reccommend it. Don't judge a book by its cover and all that...

  16. You are ordering the wrong thing from Haystack. Try their pizaa called The New Yorker. it is thin crusted, crispy and very authentic New York style pizaa and sauce. I've turned lots of people onto it and they are all converts.

  17. Amici's on 4th and King surprisingly delivers to Noe in about 35 minutes... Good thin crust pizza, good salads. Can't complain.

  18. I am very happy with Round Table, even though it's a chain. The King Arthur Supreme is everything that a pizza should be and more. That said, my favorite pizza in SF is the "Endless Summer" from Pizza Orgasmica, but I don't think they deliver to Noe.

  19. Great topic! We always order the California Veggie from Twin Peaks and it's fine, in a pinch. But more often than not, we'll drive ourselves over for thin crust pickup at either Gialina's in Glen Park (M. Bauer's #1 pizza in the City right now) or Little Star for incredible deep dish. Pi Bar is pretty good take out, but are probably better known for their beers.

  20. Another vote for the NY-style thin crust at Haystack. I can't stomach their regular pizza, but I do think the thin-crust (which you can order as an option on any pie) is good, as long as it's hot.

  21. As far as delivery in Noe Valley goes, I have to agree that Pizzeria in the mission is the best. I've tried Haystack (too soggy for my taste), CyBelles (No pizzaz), Escape from New York, Nizario's, Extreme, and Goat Hill. I really also love Marcello's. Pizzeria has good clean flavors that are executed well. There is also more care in ingredient selection from what I can tell from the website than other delivery options. For more typical pizza, I'd go with more Marcello's. For a cleaner more refined choice, I'd pick Pizzeria.

  22. Pizzeria IS great. I agree, there is never a soul on the place, but I like the pizza. I wouldn't go as far to call it one of the best in the city or anything, but as long as we're showing respect to Roundtable, you should definitely check this place out. They have a habenero sauce on some of their pies, hot as heck! Not for everybody, but in general this place is good.

  23. I call my friend in Rockridge and tell him "I have a case of beer in the fridge, call Zachary's and have them make a couple of pies and bring them over on the BART"

  24. Hey, what about Stefano's? 30th & San Jose. No delivery, but a seriously good Neopolitan pie. Check it out.

  25. When I was pregnant I called Pizza Orgasmica and BEGGED them to deliver to Noe...just once...I offered them $100 and they still said no.

That said, I'm a fan of Zante's Indian Pizza, pregnant or no.

  26. Well now this is a topic. Coming from New England I am deeply spoiled and disappointed in every single pizza west of the Mississippi. That said, the least bad that deliver are

    * Escape from NY in the Castro
    * Mozzarella di Bufala
    * Nizarios (but they can cop an attitude about delivery)
    * Haystack's The New Yorker (as mentioned above)
    * Amici's - very good but delivery is EXPENSIVE (and they don't make eggplant grinders anymore)

Twin Peaks was just tasteless and unpleasant.

Zante is OK (but please, not the Indian pizza; there's no such thing in India and should not be on planet Earth. The only pizza they have in India is Pizza Hut - yuk!).

And KC, thanks for the pointer to Stefano's; I've been meaning to check them out.

  27. The places that deliver to Noe Valley are only so-so. But if you're willing to pick it up yourself: Pauline's Pizza, Delfina, Gialina and Little Star should make anyone very happy. If only they would deliver!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Another vote for Amici's. I love their Amici's Combo and Philly pizza. Delivery is 30 minutes or so.

I also order from Sausage Factory in the Castro.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Escape From New York is good. Veggie combo is my fave.

  30. Another nod for Stefano's.

  31. The Mission does have a late night bike-courier service which will deliver to Noe valley and should be able to pick up pizzas from Pauline's, Little Star, etc (for $6 + tip). I've never tried them but I've been tempted a few times, anyone have experience with this?

  32. Pro tip. Use a courier service for Pizzeria Delfina and Little Star in the Mission.

TCB Couriers delivers all sorts of stuff, fast guys on bikes, really nice and not to expensive.

So need to mess around with second rate pizza.

    Otherwise Zante or Di Bufala

Interesting. I wonder how happy they would be delivering to the top of 23rd St ;)

  34. As much as I'd love to support more sustainable transportation I don't fancy a COLD bike delivered pizza.

  35. We order from Marcello's in the Castro, Great Sauce!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Marcello's the best delivery I've come across in our neighborhood. Pizzeria Delfina if I'm not doing delivery.

  37. I started making my own after NVP closed. After a couple of months experimenting my pies are as good as any delivery and nearly as fast.

  38. If your in the West Portal area try Paradise Pizza at 393 West Portal Ave. Their Pizza is much better than Haystacks. Paradise also has really great pasta. I really miss Noe Valley Pizza, their Salmon dinner was the best !!
