Perhaps because Sam has been in the kitchen since she was a little girl, she's "happiest when eating, cooking, talking or thinking about food." She emphasizes seasonal and local, but she's admitted to betraying the Noe Valley Farmer's Market and hoofing it to Alemany for the bargains.
