Shop Local: Noe Valley Sunscreen

We have a lipstick line named after Noe streets, local eco modern lunch bags & wine totes, so why not our own neighborhood sunscreen line? Oh wait, we have that too.

Local Noe Valley mom and entrepreneur Sara Hillman writes:
I'm a local mom here in SF. My product just launched at a couple places in Noe Valley (Whole Foods and Getzwell Pediatrics) and I was wondering if you might be interested in doing blog post on it as I think the Noe Valley community will really embrace it?

GO!screen is a brush-on mineral powder sunscreen that’s fun to use and completely natural. Developed by a chemist mom as a toxin-free solution to the daily sunscreen battle with her kids, GO!screen means no more cold sprays, greasy hands or stinging eyes. Purchase online or at Whole Foods or Getzwell Pediatrics in Noe Valley.

Food Bites: 3 Pending Licenses, 2 New Sushi Places And More Love For La Ciccia

Lots of food happenings around Noe this month: Eater SF reported today that the space at 3821 24th St will be another wine store. A wine/beer/liquor license is pending for Noe Valley Wine Merchants. No word on the expected opening date or if St Clair's will protest.

Kama Sushi looks about ready to open at 1497 Church St (formerly Amberjack). The awnings have been reworked, there is a monitor in the window presumably to show pictures of food (a new take on a classic) and they have a website pending. The beer/wine license is also pending.

In other sushi news, the space formerly known as Tamasei Sushi has a name (and also a pending beer/wine license): Akai Saru.

Finally, La Ciccia made Food & Drink's list of Top 10 Italian Restaurants in the World (page 103). Salute La Ciccia. Not so much to Food & Drink calling La Ciccia a "Mission area eatery."

Did You Lose A Little White Cat?

A reader writes:
Some neighbors found a young, totally white cat wandering around 25th and Noe Sts. It seems as though the cat was a house cat and may be missing. One of the individuals took the cat in, as it seemed somewhat scared.
I don't know the individual who took the cat in, but perhaps you can direct your readers to put up signs on 25th St. (b/t Noe and Castro) if they're missing a cat.

Announced: Walkershaw Clothing Men's Boutique

Many of you have commented that Noe Valley needs a men's clothing store. ViolĂ ! A sign on the door at 4010 24th St (once the site of a gyspy turf war) simply states that Castro St retailer Walkershaw Clothing is opening a men's store. "Coming soon."

Crime Beat: Hot Prowl Burglary

Information is from Mission and Ingleside District San Francisco Police Station newsletters.
August 3

Burglary -- 3:00pm. Unit Blk Duncan St Multiple Ingleside Units as well as several units from Mission Station responded to the area when advised of a burglary in progress. The male suspect involved had smashed a front window to the residence and entered the living room area wearing only a hospital gown. The resident of the house was holding her newborn child and stepped on to her back porch to scream for help. Officers set up a perimeter of the area and called the police department’s canine units to assist. The suspect had actually fled from the residence prior to police arriving on scene and was ultimately located within another residence that he had broken into. This arrest of a fleeing felon necessitated teamwork, complex coordination of multiple units as well as quality interviews in a harried atmosphere. Excellent Job by all involved!!
