Noe Valley Power Outages

Neighbors have reported multiple power outages in Noe Valley over the last month. We're curious: is the power going out more often than the historical norm or does Twitter magnify small outages? Here are examples of some Tweets from the last few days:

PG&E tracks current outages, but as far as we can tell doesn't make public data on power outage trends by neighborhood. So we're asking for your input - send us reports of power out within Noe Valley via email or Twitter and we'll map all data. Maybe there's a trend we can talk to PG&E about.

It's Windy! Mother Nature and MUNI Mix It Up On Church St

If your wait for the J Church seems longer than usual today, it's not your imagination. The wind downed a tree on Church St. just north of 24th St and the carnage has disrupted trains for hours. As of this writing, trains were still not running and buses had to detour around that stretch of Church.
Incidentally, it's the same set of trees that caused this MUNI backup and power outage last May.

If you're headed outside, hang on to your hat and watch for falling branches. The winds are expected to die down tonight.

Lightning Strike Shuts Off Noe Valley Power

Anyone else jump out of bed just after 1am this morning following a loud explosion? Turns out lightning took out 5 transformers near 24th and Hoffman Streets, cutting off power to about 100 PG&E customers. A very dramatic hail storm followed, and then silence a minute or so later. (An odd storm in many ways for this part of the country.)

Power is expected to be on by 11am. No other damage has been reported.
